Pre Market Report & Global Cues | 15 October, 2026
Global cues are weak this morning, and Indian markets have very little room for comfort. US tech stocks are under pressure, Asian markets are seeing heavy selling, and crude continues to trade above $100. The bigger concern is that Indian bond yields are also rising sharply. US markets closed lower, with the Nasdaq down 1.88% and S&P 500 down 1.11%. Hotter-than-expected US inflation has raised concerns that interest rates may stay high for longer, while selling in AI, semiconductor and technology stocks added to the pressure. The US 10-year yield is at 5.10%, keeping pressure on global equity valuations. Asian markets are taking a bigger hit this morning. The Kospi is down 7.6%, Nikkei 4.5% and Taiwan Weighted 2.94%. This broad weakness is a concern for Indian markets, even though Gift Nifty is currently indicating a nearly flat to negative opening. India's bond market needs close attention today. The 5-year yield has moved to 7.16%, the 10-year to 7.39% and the 30-year to 7.81%. Rising yields can increase borrowing costs and put pressure on valuations, particularly in banks, NBFCs and other rate-sensitive sectors. Brent crude remains around $104 per barrel. For India, which depends heavily on imported oil, sustained high crude prices can increase import costs, add pressure on the rupee and complicate the inflation outlook. USD/INR is around 95.15, the rupee's recent strength has not been sustained consistently. On the domestic side, Nifty closed at 22,622, down 0.44% in the previous session. Today's trade balance data, scheduled for 2:30 PM, will also be important, particularly with the crude import bill remaining elevated. For today's session: The bias remains cautious. A flat Gift Nifty opening does not cancel out the weakness in global markets. With Asian indices under pressure, crude above $100 and Indian bond yields elevated, the key question is whether Nifty can find buying support after the opening.
