Pre Market Report & Global Cues | 25 August, 2026
Global cues are slightly weak this morning. US markets closed mixed. While the Dow managed a small gain, both S&P and Nasdaq ended lower, showing pressure in tech. US bond yields have moved up to around 4.72%, which is something to keep an eye on. Asian markets are also mostly under pressure. South Korea (-2.1%) is seeing sharp weakness, and other markets like Japan, Taiwan and China are also in the red. Reflecting this, Gift Nifty is indicating around a 50–70 point gap-down, suggesting a soft start for our market. Brent crude continues to stay elevated near $92.7, and the rupee is around 95.74, still at weak levels. Along with this, India’s 10Y yield is near 6.87% and 30Y at 7.49%, showing some rise in bond yields. These factors together need close tracking. There will be good stock-specific action today. Welspun Corp will remain in focus after a strong ₹17,200 crore order pipeline. RailTel is also active with a ₹164 crore order, while JBM Auto may see interest on reports of a ₹2,850 crore investment in its EV business. Metal stocks like Hindustan Copper and Tata Steel could stay active with support from global prices. Yes Bank is in focus after RBI approval for SMBC to acquire up to 24.99% stake, and Skipper continues to see traction with an order book above ₹9,200 crore. On the weaker side, sugar stocks may remain under pressure after policy changes. Swiggy-related names and Entero Healthcare could see volatility due to ongoing selling and block deals. SBI Life and Bajaj Finance may also stay under pressure along with the broader financial space. For today’s session: Expect a slightly weak to flat opening based on Gift Nifty. With crude high, rupee weak and yields moving up, the market may remain range-bound. Watch how Nifty behaves near 24,000 support and whether it can move back towards 24,300 on any bounce.
