Raphe mPhibr Raises $100 Million – A Big Boost for Indian Defence Tech
Noida-based defence startup Raphe mPhibr has raised $100 million in funding. The round was led by General Catalyst, along with Think Investments, Amal Parikh, and other investors. This is the biggest private investment ever in India’s aerospace manufacturing sector. What does Raphe mPhibr do? Started nearly 10 years ago by brothers Vivek Mishra (CEO) and Vikash Mishra (Chairman), Raphe mPhibr makes drones and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). Some of their key products: • mR10 – A drone swarm platform • mR20 – High-altitude drone for logistics • Bharat – Small, portable drone for surveillance • X8 – A compact drone used for sea patrol Many of these are already used by Indian defence forces, and more are in final testing stages. What makes them different? They design and build everything in-house, from aerodynamics to electronics. Their facility is a fully integrated aerospace campus, handling all aspects of drone manufacturing under one roof. Why now? Drones are becoming more important in modern warfare. In recent India-Pakistan tensions, both countries used drones extensively. This shows how critical such technologies have become. What investors said: Neeraj Arora, MD at General Catalyst, said Raphe mPhibr is redefining engineering-led manufacturing and their drones are already making real-world impact. The Bigger Picture: This funding supports India’s goal to grow private defence companies. The government is also promoting defence innovation through programs like iDEX and is even sharing launch vehicle tech with private firms like HAL. Bottom Line: Raphe mPhibr is a rising star in Indian defence tech, and this major funding will help it scale faster, create more advanced drones, and support India's growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
