Tata Steel Q1 FY26 - Boosts Profits Despite Dip in Revenue…
Tata Steel delivered a resilient performance in Q1 FY26, with profitability seeing a sharp boost despite a slight dip in revenue. Sales declined 3% YoY to ₹53,178 crore, reflecting muted demand or lower steel realizations. However, the company significantly improved its operational and bottom-line performance. EBIDT rose 11% YoY to ₹7,428 crore, showing better cost control or efficiency gains. Net profit nearly doubled — up 98% YoY to ₹2,007 crore — and EPS jumped 116% to ₹1.66, compared to ₹0.77 a year ago. This sharp increase in profitability, even with lower sales, signals a strong margin recovery. On a sequential basis too, Tata Steel showed steady progress. Net profit rose from ₹1,201 crore in Mar 2025 to ₹2,007 crore, and EBIDT improved from ₹6,559 crore to ₹7,428 crore. At ₹161 per share and a market cap of ₹2,01,434 crore, the stock trades at a PE of 44.7 — indicating moderate valuation amid improving financial strength.
