🚨Update on Kaveri Engine Project🚨

India’s long-running Kaveri engine programme may finally be moving closer to viability. Recent afterburner tests are reportedly showing ~81–83 kN thrust, approaching the 83–85 kN requirement for LCA Tejas. If further improvements materialise, this could gradually reduce India’s reliance on imported fighter jet engines, a strategic dependency for decades. For markets, the story isn’t just the engine itself but the broader domestic aerospace ecosystem that could deepen if indigenous fighter programmes scale. Names often linked to the defence supply chain include: • HAL – Tejas platform integrator • Bharat Electronics – avionics & radar systems • Data Patterns – defence electronics • Astra Microwave – RF & radar components • MTAR Technologies – precision aerospace manufacturing • Paras Defence – specialised optics & defence components More importantly, progress on indigenous engines also strengthens India’s foundation for future fighter programmes like the AMCA (5th-generation aircraft). Still early days, the real milestone will be sustained thrust performance, weight optimisation, and production readiness. But if successful, it could become a long-term structural positive for India’s defence ecosystem.
