Why These 5 Stocks Are in the F&O Ban List Today?
NSE places certain stocks under the Futures & Options (F&O) ban when the open interest (OI) in their derivative contracts exceeds 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL). This measure aims to prevent excessive speculation and maintain market stability. Once the OI falls below 80% of the MWPL, the ban is typically lifted. As of April 21, 2025, the following stocks are under the F&O ban: Angel One Hindustan Copper IREDA (Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency) Manappuram Finance NALCO (National Aluminium Company Limited) For these stocks, traders are restricted from initiating new positions in the F&O segment until the open interest decreases below the specified threshold. However, trading in the cash segment remains unaffected.
