closed almost flat on Friday, August 28, 2026, ending at ₹443.50, up marginally by 0.06%.
The muted market reaction came as Emerald Sage Investment, an investment vehicle owned by global private equity firm Warburg Pincus, sold 2.7 crore Apollo Tyres shares, representing a 4.25% stake, for around ₹1,174.93 crore.
The shares were reportedly sold at ₹435 apiece to three domestic institutional investors—ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Bajaj Life Insurance and SBI Life Insurance Company.
As of June 2026, Emerald Sage Investment held a 9.93% stake in Apollo Tyres, while ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund owned 1.12%.
Apollo Tyres is a leading Indian tyre manufacturer with the Apollo and Vredestein brands and a presence across global markets.
At Friday’s close, the company had a market capitalisation of roughly ₹28,160 crore, with its 52-week range standing between ₹365 and ₹541.
The block deal puts the spotlight on institutional activity in the stock, even as Apollo Tyres traded largely steady.
