JSW Steel Production Rises Despite Mixed Global Trend
JSW Steel
JSWSTEEL
is likely to remain in focus today following its August monthly business update, which showed steady growth in consolidated crude steel production. Production rose 3% YoY to 24.65 lakh tonnes, compared with 23.82 lakh tonnes a year ago.
India operations remained the key growth driver, with crude steel production increasing 4% YoY to 23.87 lakh tonnes, versus 22.95 lakh tonnes previously. Capacity utilisation for Indian operations stood at a healthy 88%, highlighting continued operational strength.
However, JSW Steel USA Ohio reported an 11% decline in crude steel production to 0.78 lakh tonnes from 0.88 lakh tonnes last year, reflecting a weaker overseas performance.
From an investor perspective, the stock is already trading near its all-time high, making the production update particularly important for market sentiment. Sustained domestic growth and strong capacity utilisation could support the bullish narrative, although the stock’s elevated levels may also lead to volatility and profit booking.
