Markets Correct on H-1B Visa Fee Shock; IT Stocks Lead the Fall

RPOWER
Equity markets slipped on Monday, 22 September, as both Sensex and Nifty ended lower amid profit-booking and negative global cues. The Nifty 50 fell about 124 points to close near 25,200, while the Sensex dropped nearly 466 points. The sharp decline was led by IT stocks after the US announced a steep one-time $100,000 fee on H-1B visas, raising concerns over costs for Indian technology firms. Midcaps and smallcaps also saw selling pressure after recent strong rallies. Weakness in the rupee and cautious global sentiment added to the drag. Investors now look to upcoming US Fed rate decisions and domestic macro data to gauge whether this correction deepens or stabilizes. Disclaimer: Investments in securities are subject to market risk.
