Bharti Airtel Ltd Singtel stake-equalisation plan

BHARTIARTL
Singtel said at its Investor Day that it intends to align its effective economic ownership in Airtel with the Bharti/Sunil Mittal group’s ~23.2% stake over time, which briefly weighed on the stock. Shares fell about 1% intraday on 27 August on this news. The Department of Telecommunications’ Karnataka LSA imposed a ₹2.13 lakh penalty on Airtel for an alleged violation of subscriber-verification norms following a June 2026 CAF audit. Airtel has opted not to contest and will pay the penalty. The stock crashed 3.75% intraday on Monday (1 September) but recovered sharply, closing up 2.97–3.16% that day and trading around ₹1,857–1,868 on 1–2 September. Morgan Stanley retains an Overweight rating with a target price of ₹2,442, implying ~30% upside, as Airtel eyes ₹350 ARPU over time.
