BHEL GST DEMAND ORDER TELANGANA GST AUTHORITIES

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received an order from the Telangana GST authorities under Section 73 of the CGST Act, 2017, for the financial year 2020-21. The communication, dated March 29, 2025, was issued by the Joint Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of Central Tax, Central Excise & Service Tax, Medchal Commissionerate, Hyderabad. The assessment raised a total demand of ₹19,58,55,667 due to a mismatch of GST credit with the comparison statement on the GST portal. This amount includes ₹10,76,13,004 as tax demand, ₹7,74,81,363 as interest, and ₹1,07,61,300 as a penalty. BHEL has stated that there is no material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities. The company plans to file an appeal before the Commissioner (Appeals) against this demand. The notice highlights a discrepancy in GST credit availed, which the company is addressing through legal recourse.
