BHEL–Hitachi Energy Consortium Executes Novation Agreement for HVDC Renewable Transmission Project**
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has informed the stock exchanges that its consortium with Hitachi Energy India Ltd (INHE) has executed a **Novation Agreement** with AESL Projects Limited (APL), a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Limited. The development pertains to the major **HVDC renewable energy transmission project** designed to evacuate green power from **Bhadla III (Rajasthan)** and **Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh)**.
The project initially involved **Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited (RPPTL)** as the contracting entity. BHEL had earlier communicated receipt of the Letter of Intent on **February 9, 2025**, and the signing of the Supply and Services Contracts on **April 3, 2025**.
During execution, RPPTL proposed transferring all its obligations under these contracts to APL, another wholly owned subsidiary of its parent entity AESL. With mutual consent from all parties, a **Novation Agreement dated November 14, 2025**, has now been formally executed.
Under this novation, **APL has fully assumed all past, current, and future rights, responsibilities, liabilities, and obligations** previously held by RPPTL. BHEL clarified that **the project scope, timelines, technical requirements, and commercial terms remain completely unchanged** for the consortium.
The company noted that this change will have **no adverse impact** on project execution and ensures seamless continuation of the HVDC project, which plays a critical role in India’s renewable energy transmission infrastructure.
