CONCOR and UltraTech Cement Forge Strategic Partnership to Revolutionize Bulk Cement Logistics
New Delhi, October 7, 2025 – Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, announced a strategic agreement with UltraTech Cement Ltd., India’s largest cement manufacturer, to transport bulk cement using specialized tank containers — marking a significant step towards sustainable and efficient rail-based logistics in India.
Under the partnership, CONCOR will provide dedicated rakes for the movement of bulk cement across identified railway corridors. The initiative represents a first-of-its-kind, large-scale shift in India’s cement logistics model — aiming to transition cargo transport from road to rail for greater efficiency and sustainability.
This collaboration leverages CONCOR’s multimodal logistics expertise and Indian Railways’ vast infrastructure, expected to streamline UltraTech’s nationwide cement supply chain. It will also contribute to lower transportation costs, reduced road congestion, and a significant decrease in carbon emissions, aligning with India’s broader climate and infrastructure goals.
The agreement was officially signed in New Delhi in the presence of Sh. K. C. Jhanwar, Managing Director of UltraTech Cement, and Sh. Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing Director of CONCOR.
With this milestone, CONCOR and UltraTech aim to set new benchmarks in sustainable bulk logistics, paving the way for scalable, green transportation models across other sectors as well.
