Dixon Technologies Seals Joint Venture with HKC to Build India’s Display Manufacturing Future

Mumbai, August 16, 2025 – Dixon Technologies (India) Limited, India’s leading electronics manufacturer, has signed a landmark joint venture agreement with HKC Overseas Ltd., an affiliate of China’s HKC Corporation, to establish a domestic manufacturing base for liquid crystal and TFT display modules. Under the pact, HKC will acquire a 26% stake in Dixon’s wholly owned subsidiary Dixon Display Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (DDTPL), while Dixon will retain 74% ownership. The combined investment is pegged at nearly USD 42.3 million (approx. ₹350 crore), with Dixon contributing USD 31.3 million and HKC USD 11 million. The joint venture aims to develop and manufacture displays for smartphones, TVs, monitors, and automotive applications, while also introducing HKC-branded products in India. With board representation rights (Dixon 3 directors, HKC 1 director) and customary investor protections, the deal cements a strategic partnership positioned to serve India’s rapidly expanding consumer electronics market. Currently, DDTPL is a greenfield entity with no turnover and negative net worth of ₹12.82 lakh. The transaction, expected to close by December 2026, remains subject to regulatory clearances, including Press Note 3 approval for Chinese investments. Why it matters: India’s electronics demand is surging, yet display modules remain largely imported. By bringing display manufacturing to India, Dixon positions itself as a front-runner in reducing import dependence, capturing value across the electronics supply chain, and potentially driving long-term margin expansion. 📊 Investor Take: While near-term financial impact may be limited, the JV could prove to be a game-changer for Dixon’s product ecosystem, boosting its role as a strategic partner for global brands and aligning with India’s push for electronics self-reliance.
