GAIL Becomes First Maharatna PSU to Go Live with “RISE with SAP – S/4HANA on Cloud

GAIL (India) Ltd. has marked a significant digital milestone by becoming the first Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) to successfully go live with “RISE with SAP – S/4HANA on Cloud.” The launch, held on June 25, 2025, was officiated by CMD Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta and attended by senior leadership from both GAIL and SAP. This transformative step, code-named “Navodaya,” involved the complete migration from GAIL’s legacy ECC system to a modern, intelligent ERP system on the cloud. The implementation was achieved within a year, despite its complexity, showcasing GAIL’s commitment to digital transformation. According to Director (Finance) Shri R.K. Jain, this move is about creating a smarter and more agile enterprise. Hosted on a scalable cloud platform, the new system empowers GAIL to embrace advanced technologies like AI, machine learning, and automation. SAP India MD Shri Manish Prasad highlighted that the upgrade will enable exponential efficiency and help GAIL harness AI for operational excellence. With this strategic leap, GAIL reinforces its position at the forefront of digital innovation among Indian PSUs.
