IndiGo Faces ₹944.20 Crore Income Tax Penalty, Plans to Contest Order , 30 March 2025

InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) has received a penalty order of ₹944.20 crore from the Income Tax Department under Section 270A of the Income Tax Act for the assessment year 2021-22. The penalty is based on an alleged misinterpretation that IndiGo’s appeal against a previous tax assessment order was dismissed, whereas it is still under consideration. The airline strongly refutes the penalty, calling it erroneous and frivolous, and plans to challenge it through legal channels.
