IRFC Refinances ₹2,539 Crore for Angul Sukinda Railway to Boost Freight Corridor
New Delhi, 11 August 2025 – The Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) has executed a ₹2,539 crore refinancing for Angul Sukinda Railway Limited (ASRL), a strategic freight corridor in Odisha. The agreement was signed in New Delhi by Mr. Dilip Kumar Samantray, MD of ASRL, and Ms. Deepa Kotnis, ED (Finance) at IRFC.
ASRL, promoted by RVNL, CONCOR, the Government of Odisha, and private partners, operates a 113.4 km broad-gauge line linking mineral-rich regions to coal, steel, power, and port facilities. The route helps reduce congestion and improves supply chain efficiency for key industries.
The refinancing offers competitive terms and a repayment plan aligned to revenue cycles, enabling ASRL to strengthen finances, expand capacity, and enhance operations.
“IRFC is committed to providing competitive financing that strengthens India’s logistics and infrastructure backbone, with railways at its core,” said the IRFC CMD.
The move is part of IRFC’s wider strategy to back critical railway-linked infrastructure and support the nation’s growing logistics sector.
