Larsen & Toubro, GA-ASI Announce Strategic Partnership to Manufacture Advanced Drones in India

Mumbai, October 31, 2025: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has entered into a strategic partnership with US-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) to manufacture Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) in India, marking a key milestone for the nation’s defence manufacturing sector. The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Make in India” initiatives and involves significant technology transfers. Under the agreement, L&T will act as the prime bidder for the Ministry of Defence’s upcoming program to induct 87 MALE RPAS, with GA-ASI serving as the technology partner. The partnership aims to deliver GA-ASI’s proven MQ-series RPAS platforms, which have been globally deployed in surveillance and combat missions. S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director of L&T, said the alliance would strengthen India’s defence capabilities and accelerate the development of indigenous aerospace technologies. Dr. Vivek Lall, Chief Executive of General Atomics Global Corporation, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting India’s self-reliance vision in aerospace manufacturing. L&T, a $30 billion Indian multinational, has a legacy of eight decades in engineering, procurement, construction, and hi-tech manufacturing. GA-ASI, a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems, has achieved over 9 million flight hours with its Predator series. This collaboration represents a major boost for India’s defence ecosystem and deepens strategic cooperation between India and the United States in advanced aerospace technologies.
