Nifty 50 Commentary – 16 June 2025

The Nifty 50 surged by 227.90 points or 0.92%, closing at 24,946.50, signaling a strong bullish session. The index opened at 24,732.35 and traded with positive momentum throughout the day, making an intraday high of 24,967.10 and a low of 24,703.60. Buyers remained in control as the index consistently traded above its previous close of 24,718.60, reflecting solid investor sentiment. This rally brings Nifty within striking distance of its all-time high of 26,277.35, indicating renewed strength across large-cap stocks. The intraday chart shows a steady uptrend with consolidation near the top, suggesting profit-booking was mild and well-absorbed. The broad market participation and stable upper levels hint at continued bullishness, possibly fueled by institutional buying and favorable macro cues. Outlook: Sustained movement above the 24,900 zone could open the door for a fresh push toward psychological resistance at 25,000 and beyond, while immediate support lies at 24,700. The broader market ended the day on a mixed but slightly positive note. Out of 3,021 stocks traded, 1,483 advanced, narrowly outpacing 1,446 declines, while 92 stocks remained unchanged, reflecting a tug-of-war between bulls and bears. The presence of 66 stocks hitting 52-week highs signals underlying strength in select pockets, whereas only 27 stocks touched 52-week lows, hinting at limited downside pressure. Market enthusiasm was further supported by 85 stocks locking in their upper circuit, outnumbering the 80 in lower circuits, which implies a tilt toward bullish sentiment. Overall, the session showed stock-specific action with no clear dominance, but a cautiously optimistic undertone persists, especially in sectors showing momentum. Investors appear to be rotating into outperformers while maintaining a watchful eye on broader cues.
