Nifty 50 Market Commentary (June 3, 2025)
The Nifty 50 closed at 24,542.50, shedding 174.10 points (-0.70%) amid broad-based profit booking and weak market sentiment. After opening at 24,786.30, the index witnessed steady declines through the day, unable to hold intraday gains. With today’s close, Nifty remains in the upper half of its 52-week range (21,281–26,277), indicating medium-term bullish structure, although short-term fatigue is evident.
On the gainers’ front, Hindustan Zinc (+3.44%), Jindal Stainless (+3.24%), and Prestige Estates (+2.92%) outperformed, backed by strong volume and possible sectoral rotation into metals and real estate. BSE Ltd (+2.66%) continued its strong uptrend on improving financial performance and exchange volume momentum.
Conversely, Yes Bank (-10.4%) was the biggest drag, possibly reacting to profit-taking or asset quality concerns. ICICI Prudential (-3.5%), BHEL (-3.23%), and Indian Hotels (-2.89%) also saw steep falls amid sector-specific headwinds and weak institutional support.
Technically, today’s decline signals minor consolidation; however, the broader structure remains intact unless 24,250–24,300 breaks decisively. A sharp reversal above 24,800 may reignite bullish sentiment.
Net market breadth leaned bearish, with draggers outpacing pullers significantly (-174 vs +10), reflecting cautious investor sentiment amid macro uncertainties.
