OIL & BPCL Join Forces to Expand City Gas Distribution in Arunachal Pradesh

Noida, August 26, 2025 – In a landmark development for India’s clean energy roadmap, Oil India Limited (OIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), both Maharatna CPSEs, have signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) to establish a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Arunachal Pradesh. The new Joint Venture Company (JVC) will focus on: Setting up Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations. Supplying Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households, commercial establishments, and industries. Driving socio-economic growth while aligning with the Government of India’s vision of a gas-based economy. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD of OIL, highlighted that this initiative reinforces OIL’s role in advancing India’s hydrocarbon strategy in the North-East, especially after the successful commissioning of the Kumchai-Kusijan gas pipeline. Shri Sanjay Khanna, CMD (Additional Charge) of BPCL, emphasized BPCL’s commitment to sustainable growth, clean energy access, and improving the quality of life for communities in Arunachal Pradesh.
