**POWERGRID Forms JV With Nepal Electricity Authority for Cross-Border Transmission**

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has entered into Joint Venture & Shareholders’ Agreements with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to establish two joint venture companies—one in India and one in Nepal. The agreements were signed on 29 October 2025 and officially confirmed by NEA on 21 November 2025. The JV companies will develop major **400 kV double-circuit (Quad Moose)** transmission links between the two countries, including the **Inaruwa–New Purnea** line and the **Lamki (Dododhara)–Bareilly** corridor. These projects are expected to significantly enhance cross-border power transfer capability and strengthen regional grid integration. Under the structure, POWERGRID will hold **51% stake in the Indian JV** and **49% in the Nepal JV**, while NEA will hold the remaining share. Board representation will be proportionate, with both parties retaining rights over capital structure changes and share subscriptions. This collaboration marks an important step toward expanding India–Nepal energy cooperation and boosting long-term transmission infrastructure. --- **Disclaimer:** Not investment advice. **Follow for more quick financial updates.**
