REC Ltd Incorporates Two Subsidiaries for Power Transmission Projects in Maharashtra

New Delhi, July 7, 2025 – REC Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL), has incorporated two new subsidiary companies to undertake intra-state transmission projects in Maharashtra. The newly formed entities are Umred Power Transmission Limited and Sakoli Power Transmission Limited, each with an authorized and paid-up capital of ₹5 lakh. These incorporations follow a directive from the Government of Maharashtra, dated April 9, 2025, assigning transmission projects at Umred (Nagpur) and Sakoli (Bhandara) to RECPDCL. The role of RECPDCL is to act as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) to facilitate the selection of transmission service providers via the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. As per REC’s disclosure to the stock exchanges, both companies are newly incorporated and have not yet commenced operations. Upon successful bidding, each entity will be transferred to the winning bidder, including all assets and liabilities. The move underscores REC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening India's transmission infrastructure and aligns with its mandate to enable competitive and transparent project implementation in the power sector.
