Reliance Acquires 49% Stake in Oval Invincibles; Team to Rebrand as MI London From 2026
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its wholly owned subsidiary **Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Ltd (RSBVL)**, has acquired a **49% stake** in **Oval Invincibles Limited** from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for **GBP 60.27 million**. Surrey County Cricket Club will retain a **51% stake**, marking a major shift in ownership of The Hundred franchise.
As part of the partnership, both the men’s and women’s teams will be **rebranded as “MI London” from 2026**, extending the global Mumbai Indians cricket footprint. The Oval Invincibles are the **most successful team in The Hundred**, securing **five championships in five years**, with the men’s team dominating 2023–2025.
The acquisition requires **no regulatory approvals**, is **not a related-party transaction**, and the franchise reported turnover of **GBP 2.33 million (FY25)**.
Reliance stated that the move aligns with MI’s global expansion strategy, with MI teams now spanning **five countries across four continents**. The collaboration aims to deepen cricket engagement, nurture talent, and expand commercial value.
