Titagarh Rail Systems Delivers First Diving Support Craft to Indian Navy

⚓ Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has successfully delivered the first indigenously built Diving Support Craft (DSC A20) to the Indian Navy, marking a major milestone under the Government’s Make in India initiative. This vessel is the first of five DSCs being built by TRSL for the Navy. The catamaran-hull DSC, measuring 32.9m in length and 13m in breadth, is designed for critical underwater operations such as repair, maintenance, and salvage of naval ships in and around harbours. It also doubles as a training platform for the Navy’s diving cadre. With two engines of 1,342 KW each, DSC A20 can cruise at 11 knots, carry 18 personnel, and sustain operations for 72 hours at economical speed. Speaking at the handover, Umesh Chowdhary, VC & MD of TRSL, said the project reflects Titagarh’s growing role in India’s maritime sector and its commitment to indigenous design and self-reliance. Importantly, DSC A20 becomes the first Indian Naval Commissioned Vessel to be built and delivered by a private shipyard in Bengal. Looking ahead, TRSL’s Shipbuilding & Maritime Systems Division is being restructured into Titagarh Naval Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary with an order book of over ₹575 crore.
