Torrent Power Q2 Profit Soars 48% on Strong Merchant Power Sales and Green Expansion
Torrent Power Limited reported a strong performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, with its Total Comprehensive Income (TCI) rising 48% year-on-year to ₹730 crore, driven by higher merchant power sales from its gas-based plants and lower finance costs.
The company’s revenue from operations increased 10% to ₹7,876 crore, compared to ₹7,176 crore in Q2 FY25. EBITDA grew 19% to ₹1,584 crore, reflecting improved operational efficiency despite higher depreciation linked to new renewable capacity additions.
During the quarter, Torrent Power secured a Letter of Award for a 1,600 MW coal-based power project in Madhya Pradesh, at a tariff of ₹5.829 per kWh, strengthening its generation portfolio. The company also inaugurated its first Green Hydrogen Plant in Gorakhpur, developed in partnership with Torrent Gas. The facility, inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will produce 72 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, marking India’s largest hydrogen-natural gas blending initiative in the City Gas Distribution sector.
Torrent Power, part of the ₹45,000 crore Torrent Group, continues to be a key integrated player across the power value chain with a total installed generation capacity of 4,961 MW, and ~10.1 GW including projects under development.
The company reaffirmed its focus on sustainable growth, cleaner energy, and reliable distribution across its licensed areas.
