Zydus Lifesciences Expands Animal Health Portfolio with Two Key Generic Launches
New Jersey / 15 September 2025 – Zydus Lifesciences, through its wholly owned animal health division ZyVet, has launched two FDA-approved generic treatments for pets in the U.S. market, marking a significant step toward affordable veterinary care.
The first product, phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride tablets, is the first generic option for managing canine urinary incontinence, a common condition affecting aging and spayed dogs. With multiple strengths and cost-effective pricing, this product aims to improve long-term treatment adherence for veterinarians and pet owners alike.
The second product, furosemide tablets, is a generic form of a widely used diuretic critical for managing congestive heart failure and fluid retention in dogs and cats. Available in various strengths, it provides veterinarians with a reliable and affordable option for chronic care.
Speaking on the launches, Punit Patel, President & CEO of Zydus Americas, stated, “Our mission is to ensure that clinical innovation doesn’t come at a premium. These launches are about removing cost barriers and enabling better, consistent care for pets.”
With fewer than 20% of FDA-approved animal drugs available as generics, these launches address a critical gap in the market. ZyVet’s rapid expansion reflects its leadership in making high-quality veterinary treatments more accessible.
Leveraging over 70 years of pharmaceutical expertise, ZyVet is set to redefine animal healthcare, supporting pet owners and veterinary professionals with cost-effective solutions without compromising on safety or efficacy.
