In technical analysis, lower highs (LH) indicate that buyers are becoming weaker and sellers are gaining control. A lower high occurs when the price makes a rally but fails to reach the previous swing high, creating a sequence such as Higher High → Lower High → Lower High. This is generally a sign of a bearish trend or weakening bullish momentum, especially when accompanied by lower lows (LL). For example, if a stock moves from ₹100 → ₹120, then falls to ₹110 and rallies only to ₹116, the ₹116 level is a lower high because it is below the previous high of ₹120. A series of lower highs means sellers are entering at progressively lower prices, suggesting resistance is moving downward. If price eventually breaks above the most recent lower high, however, it can signal that the bearish structure is weakening or reversing.
