JSW Energy Limited, a leading private sector power producer in India and part of the JSW Group, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Thermal Energy Limited, has signed a contract with Toshiba JSW Power Systems Private Ltd for the supply of two 800 MW steam turbine generators for its 1,600 MW Salboni Thermal Project in West Bengal. This strategic partnership aims to ensure supply-chain certainty, improve execution coordination, and mitigate risks from equipment shortages. The Salboni project, along with other ongoing developments, will increase JSW Energy’s total thermal capacity to 9,058 MW, contributing to India’s energy security and grid stability. JSW Energy, with a total locked-in generation capacity of 30.5 GW and 29.4 GWh of energy storage capacity, is committed to achieving 30 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh energy storage by FY 2030, while targeting carbon neutrality by 2050.
