SJVN Limited, a Navratna CPSE, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan. Developed on 5,000 acres in Bikaner district at a cost of ₹5,492 crore under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, the project will generate 2,454.55 million units of electricity in its first year and approximately 56,838 million units over 25 years, with a maximum usage charge of ₹2.57 per unit. Supporting the Make in India initiative, the project utilizes domestically manufactured solar photovoltaic cells and modules, contributes to the Government of India’s renewable energy target of 500 GW by 2030, and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 27,85,077 tonnes.
