HEALTHCARE
FORTIS HEALTHCARE Healthcare can offer relatively defensive characteristics, but hospital companies still need detailed analysis. $FORTIS reported Q1 FY27 revenue growth of about 17.5% to ₹2,545 crore and consolidated net profit of approximately ₹273 crore. The company has also indicated plans to add more than 400 beds during FY27. For beginners, hospital stocks should be analysed using occupancy rates, average revenue per occupied bed, case mix, margins, bed additions, mature-hospital growth and return on capital. Capacity expansion can create long-term growth, but it also requires substantial capital. Investors should therefore examine whether new beds are likely to generate adequate returns rather than assuming that every expansion automatically creates shareholder value.
