Hitachi Energy India shares rose 3.56% after announcing a ₹2,000 crore investment to set up a Large Power Transformer factory in Vadodara, Gujarat scheduled for completion in FY28. The facility will manufacture transformers for high voltage transmission, HVDC, power generation, AI data centres and large industrial projects. India is simultaneously expanding its power generation capacity, building new transmission infrastructure and constructing AI data centres all of which need large power transformers. Hitachi Energy is betting ₹2,000 crore that this demand will stay strong for years. The Make in India alignment also opens doors to government procurement preferences a significant advantage.
