Ola Electric Gains 3% on Indigenous Battery Cell Certification
Until now Indian EV companies imported battery cells from China, Japan and South Korea expensive and strategically risky. By developing and certifying its own cell Ola Electric can now manufacture batteries in India reducing import costs, improving supply chain control and strengthening its edge over rivals like Bajaj, TVS and Ather.
India's government offers massive PLI scheme incentives for domestic battery cell manufacturing. This BIS certification makes Ola fully eligible to claim these benefits potentially transforming its cost structure and improving profitability which has been investors' biggest concern about the stock.
