Canara Bank reports 11% rise in Q2 consolidated net profit

Canara Bank has reported its results for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026 (Q2FY27). The bank has reported an 8.40% rise in its net profit at Rs 5,174.76 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as compared to Rs 4,773.96 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income increased by 6.05% to Rs 40,931.19 crore for Q2FY27 as compared to Rs 38,597.73 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. On a consolidated basis, the bank has reported a 10.96% rise in its net profit at Rs 5,381.59 crore for Q2FY27, as compared to Rs 4,850.03 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income declined by 2.56% to Rs 40,938.80 crore for Q2FY27 as compared to Rs 42,013.74 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. View : The standalone net profit of Rs. 5,175 crore beat market expectations. High interest rates and domestic yield curve movements resulted in a steep 68.5% contraction in treasury income (Rs. 499 crore down from Rs. 1,583 crore), which marginally constrained what could have been a blowout quarter for bottom-line expansion. Non-performing assets dropped systematically for the 23rd consecutive quarter (hitting a low 1.33%), the bank safely reduced its NPA provisions.
