Exide Industries invests Rs 100 crore in EESL

Exide Industries has invested Rs 100 crore by way of subscription in the equity share capital of its wholly owned subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions (EESL). With this investment, the total investment made by the company in EESL stands to Rs 5,202.23 crore. The equity investment in EESL on a rights basis is intended to meet its various funding requirements for the greenfield plant in Bengaluru for the manufacture and sale of lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs. With the current investment, EIL shareholding m EESL remains unchanged at 100%. Impact : This ₹100 crore equity infusion is a deliberate expansion of Exide Industries' long-term capital strategy, not an isolated cash event. By anchoring local EV supply chains, this move strategically shifts Exide from a traditional lead-acid manufacturer to a frontrunner in India's modern energy transition. View : Exide is successfully building an insurmountable localized entry barrier in the Indian EV supply chain. Disclosure : I do not hold any position in the mentioned stock. Disclaimer : Investment in securities are subject to market risk. This is only for educational purpose.
