SAIL reports 8% growth in crude steel production in Aug 2026

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has reported 8% growth in crude steel production at 1.68 million tonnes (MT) for the month of August 2026, as compared to 1.55 MT in the corresponding period last year. Besides, the company’s total sales increased by 13% year on year at 1.87 MT, over 1.65 MT in the corresponding period of last year. Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is one of the largest steel-making companies in India and one of the Maharatnas of the country Central Public Sector Enterprises. SAIL produces iron and steel at five integrated plants and three special steel plants, located principally in the eastern and central regions of India and situated close to domestic sources of raw materials. SAIL manufactures and sells a broad range of steel products.
