Economic Fallout: Jobs, Revenue and FDI at Risk

Industry bodies including AIGF, EGF, and FIFS have warned that a blanket ban risks reversing key gains of the online gaming sector. They estimate an annual tax revenue loss of up to 20,000 crore rupees, job losses among more than 200,000 professionals, and a wave of users shifting to unsafe, unregulated offshore platforms. Furthermore, the industry has attracted nearly 23,000 crore rupees in foreign direct investment in recent years, all of which could be at risk if the bill passes in its current form. Analysts and policymakers are urging for a more balanced regulatory framework rather than a complete prohibition.
