📰 Adani Enterprises Likely to Emerge as Top Bidder for Jaiprakash Associates

Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) is poised to emerge as the highest bidder for Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL) under the ongoing insolvency resolution process, as its proposal to pay the acquisition amount within two years has been deemed superior to Vedanta Group’s plan, which involves staggered payments over five years, according to sources. Earlier in September, Vedanta had outbid Adani with a ₹12,505 crore NPV offer during the auction conducted by lenders. However, after further negotiations, five shortlisted bidders—Adani Enterprises, Dalmia Cement (Bharat), Vedanta Group, Jindal Power, and PNC Infratech—submitted revised resolution plans on October 14. The Committee of Creditors (CoC) evaluated all proposals based on feasibility and viability, ranking Adani Enterprises the highest, followed by Dalmia Cement and Vedanta. The CoC is expected to vote on the final resolution plan within the next two weeks. JAL, with diverse interests across real estate, cement, power, hospitality, and EPC, was admitted into the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) on June 3, 2024, by the NCLT Allahabad Bench after defaulting on loans totaling nearly ₹60,000 crore. The National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL) leads the list of financial creditors after acquiring stressed loans from a consortium headed by SBI. If approved, Adani’s acquisition is expected to revive JAL’s core assets, including large real estate holdings in Noida-Greater Noida, multiple non-operational cement plants in MP and UP, and hotel properties in Delhi-NCR, Agra, and Mussoorie. The move could mark another major expansion for the Adani Group in the cement and infrastructure space, further strengthening its foothold in India’s construction value chain. #AdaniEnterprises #JaiprakashAssociates #Insolvency #Vedanta #DalmiaCement #NARCL #SBI #CIRP #AdaniGroup #Infrastructure #CementSector #RealEstate #StockMarketNews
