📰 Ajit Pawar Defends Son Over Pune Land Deal, Cancels ₹300-Crore Transaction

Mumbai / Pune: Mounting a damage-control effort, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday said his son Parth Pawar was unaware that the land purchased by his firm in Pune was government-owned. He announced that the ₹300 crore land deal had been cancelled amid growing political backlash. The controversy revolves around Survey No. 88 in Mouje Mundhwa, Pune — government (“Mahar Vatan”) land originally reserved for members of the Mahar community (Dalits). 🔍 Probe Ordered The Revenue and Forest Department has formed a high-level committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Vikas Kharge to investigate the unauthorised registration and determine any loss to the state exchequer. The report is expected within one month. ⚖️ FIRs Filed Pimpri Chinchwad police registered an FIR against Digvijay Patil, Shital Tejwani, and sub-registrar R. B. Taru for cheating and misappropriation. A second FIR was filed in Pune against Patil, Tejwani, and suspended official Suryakant Yewale, along with six others linked to a similar land deal in Bopodi. 🗣️ Ajit Pawar’s Clarification “The concerned land is government land which cannot be sold. Parth and his partner were unaware of this. The deal has now been cancelled and no money or possession changed hands,” Pawar said. He added that neither he nor his office made any calls or exerted pressure on officials.
