📰 Britannia Eyes Entry into Protein-Based Ready-to-Drink Beverages; Focus Shifts to Volume-Led Growth

Mumbai: FMCG major Britannia Industries Ltd is exploring entry into the protein-based ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages segment as part of its expansion within the dairy portfolio, said Executive Vice Chairman & MD Varun Berry during the company’s Q2 FY26 earnings call. “Yes, protein drinks we are looking at. We definitely want to do protein drinks in ready-to-drink format,” Berry said, clarifying that Britannia is not considering whey powders due to current limitations in producing high-quality whey suited for professional-grade use. Profitability Achieved; Next Phase Focused on Volumes Berry noted that Britannia has now reached its desired profitability levels and will pivot toward volume-driven growth by increasing investments in core brands, competitive pricing, and consumer engagement. “We are going to invest behind our key core brands... we’re going to double down and make sure that the extremely salient brands that we have, we nurture them as we go forward,” he said. The company will also adopt aggressive pricing and media investments to strengthen market leadership, even if it results in slightly lower margins. Strong Q2FY26 Performance Britannia reported a 34% YoY rise in standalone net profit to ₹689.95 crore for Q2FY26, compared to ₹514.41 crore last year, supported by stable input costs and tight cost control. Revenue from operations grew 3.6% YoY to ₹4,664.51 crore. Berry said recent GST rate revisions (effective 22 Sept 2025) will benefit organized players, covering 85% of Britannia’s product portfolio, strengthening compliance and pricing discipline across the food industry. #BritanniaIndustries #VarunBerry #ProteinDrinks #ReadyToDrink #FMCG #DairyBusiness #VolumeGrowth #Q2Results #GSTUpdate #RuralGrowth #DakshitHargave #StockMarketNews #FoodIndustry #IndiaBusiness #EarningsUpdate
