CG Power Rises Over 5% as Subsidiary Launches India’s First Semiconductor OSAT Facility in Gujarat

Shares of CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd surged 5.38% to an intraday high of ₹699.75 on the NSE on Friday, snapping a three-day losing streak, after its subsidiary CG Semi Pvt Ltd inaugurated a semiconductor assembly and testing unit in Gujarat. The Sanand-based facility, developed in collaboration with Japan’s Renesas and Thailand’s Stars Microelectronics, marks India’s first full-service Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) unit. CG Semi plans an investment of ₹7,600 crore to build two plants — G1 and G2. The newly commissioned G1 unit will initially handle up to 0.5 million units per day, offering chip assembly, packaging, and testing services. The second unit, G2, expected by end-2026, will significantly expand capacity to 14.5 million units daily. Together, the projects are projected to create more than 5,000 jobs. Chairman Vellayan Subbiah hailed the development as a “national milestone,” highlighting its role in advancing India’s technological sovereignty and semiconductor ambitions. The project is backed by both the Centre and the Gujarat government. Hashtags: #CGPower #Semiconductor #MakeInIndia #StockMarket #Technology #Gujarat #Investing
