Dr. Reddy’s Launches Novel Acid Blocker Therapy in India to Tackle Widespread GERD and Ulcer Cases

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. has introduced Tegoprazan, a next-generation potassium-competitive acid blocker (PCAB), in India under the brand name PCAB. The therapy is designed for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric ulcers, and other acid-related conditions, offering faster relief and longer pH control compared to conventional options. The rollout follows Dr. Reddy’s exclusive licensing deal with South Korea’s HK inno.N Corp. in 2022. Tegoprazan is already approved in 21 countries, including South Korea and China, and has completed Phase III trials in the U.S. Clinical data shows that 99% of GERD patients achieved endoscopic healing within 8 weeks. With nearly 38% of India’s population affected by acid peptic disorders, the launch strengthens Dr. Reddy’s gastrointestinal portfolio, which already includes Omez, Razo and Vono.
