Gangwal Family to Sell 3.1% Stake in InterGlobe Aviation via Rs 7,020-Crore Block Deal
The Rakesh Gangwal family is set to divest up to 3.1% stake in InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of IndiGo Airlines, through block deals worth around Rs 7,020 crore, CNBC Awaaz reported citing sources. The floor price for the block deal has been fixed at Rs 5,808 per share, representing a 4% discount to the last traded price. The transaction is likely to be executed on August 28, 2025. This move marks a continued gradual exit by the Gangwal family from IndiGo. Rakesh Gangwal resigned from the airline’s board in February 2022, and in 2025 alone, the family has sold nearly 9% stake, including a Rs 11,900-crore block deal in May. InterGlobe Aviation’s stock has surged 31% year-to-date, and over the last five years, has delivered a remarkable 400% gain. Last week, the company’s inclusion in the Nifty 50 index as part of the semi-annual reshuffle further cemented its standing among India’s leading listed firms. For the June 2025 quarter, IndiGo posted a profit of Rs 2,161 crore, down 21% year-on-year, while revenue from operations rose 5% to Rs 20,496 crore. Despite near-term capacity cuts, brokerages remain confident in the airline’s long-term growth trajectory, with a focus on yield improvement during the festive season. #IndiGo #InterGlobeAviation #GangwalFamily #BlockDeal #Nifty50 #StockMarket #Aviation #IndiGoShares
