📰 Marico in Talks to Acquire Plant-Based Protein Brand Cosmix for ~₹300 Crore
Marico is in advanced discussions to acquire Cosmix, a fast-growing startup focused on plant-based protein supplements, as the FMCG major looks to capitalise on India’s rising demand for protein-rich nutrition and strengthen its health & wellness portfolio. According to sources, the deal value is likely to be around ₹300 crore. Cosmix reported ₹24.4 crore revenue and ₹2.8 crore profit in FY24, and has grown over 2.5x in the last three years, reflecting strong consumer traction in the premium nutrition space. The potential acquisition aligns with Marico’s strategy of expanding its digital-first and D2C brands, especially in food and wellness categories. The company has previously scaled brands such as Plix, True Elements, Beardo and Just Herbs, with its digital portfolio clocking ₹900 crore in revenue as of Q1 FY26, and a stated ambition to reach ₹2,000–2,500 crore in the next three years. If finalised, the deal would also mark a major win for Namita Thapar, who invested in Cosmix on Shark Tank India in 2024 at a valuation of ₹100 crore. A ₹300 crore acquisition would triple the value of her 1% stake. 📌 Key Hashtags #Marico #Cosmix #FMCG #ProteinNutrition #HealthAndWellness #D2CBrands #StartupAcquisition #SharkTankIndia #BusinessNews #IndianStartups
