Uday Kotak Urges Indians to Build Globally Competitive Enterprises Amid Uncertain Global Outlook
Uday Kotak, Founder and Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank, has urged every Indian to step beyond their comfort zones and focus on building globally competitive Indian enterprises in an increasingly uncertain and fast-changing world. In a video message ahead of Diwali and Samvat 2082, Kotak emphasized that corporate India must continue to earn investors’ faith by building sustainable, long-term businesses. “This is a time for every Indian to step out of our comfort, convenience, and complacency zones to build an India and an Indian business that is ready to take on the world,” Kotak said. “I wish that corporate India, in which investors have such great faith, would wake up to this challenge and focus on building companies sustainably for the future, thereby improving earnings over time so that the current high P/E ratios become justified,” he added. Kotak acknowledged that Samvat 2081 has been a challenging year for equity investors, with muted returns amid volatile global conditions. He noted that both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 have delivered around 5% returns between October 31, 2024, and October 16, 2025. Despite subdued short-term returns, Kotak highlighted India’s resilient equity landscape, supported by strong mutual fund inflows and growing retail participation. “The Indian trend line of saver becoming the investor continues at pace,” he said, crediting supportive government policies such as zero tax up to ₹12 lakh and GST reductions, which have strengthened the domestic economy. Reflecting on the global context, Kotak said macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties—including trade tariffs, wars, and shifting alliances—have weighed on investor sentiment worldwide. #UdayKotak #KotakMahindraBank #StockMarket #Samvat2082 #MarketOutlook #IndianEconomy #EquityMarkets #InvestInIndia #CorporateIndia #MutualFunds #InvestorSentiment #GlobalEconomy #Diwali2025 #BSESensex #Nifty50
