India’s Green Vehicle Shift: Who Could Benefit

Imagine an Indian car buyer standing at a showroom: fuel costs are rising, but the customer still wants convenience. The answer is increasingly moving toward CNG, hybrids and EVs. This shift is becoming more visible as **Maruti Suzuki India** targets nearly **10 lakh green-vehicle sales in FY27**, compared with its earlier expectation of 8–9 lakh units. The company is also introducing automatic S-CNG variants of Swift, Dzire and Baleno. Maruti currently has around 70% share of India’s CNG vehicle market and sells close to 80,000 CNG vehicles a month. The bigger learning is that this is not only an automobile story. A transition toward cleaner mobility can create opportunities across the **auto, auto-components, batteries, power electronics and EV ecosystem**. • **
