South India’s Gas Pipeline Push: Who Could Benefit?
A new gas pipeline story is unfolding in South India.
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) has approved an investment of **₹2,448.70 crore** for the **Kochi–Kanyakumari–Thoothukudi Natural Gas Pipeline (KTPL)**. The proposed pipeline will stretch approximately **424.65 km**, with a capacity of **6.84 MMSCMD**, including **1.71 MMSCMD of common-carrier capacity**.
Think of a gas pipeline as an **energy highway**. Once connectivity improves, LNG/natural gas can potentially move more efficiently from terminals to industrial, power, city-gas and other demand centres.
