Infosys has reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 6,654 crore for Q3 FY26, marking a 2.2% YoY fall from the Rs 6,806 crore net profit reported in Q3 FY25. The IT major’s revenue from operations meanwhile rose 9% to Rs 45,479 crore. Infosys on January 14 reported Rs 1,289 crore as an exception item weighing down on its Q3 profit due to impact of new labour codes implemented in India. The comes as the IT major reported a 2.2 percent year-on-year (YoY) fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 6,654 crore for the October-December quarter of the ongoing financial year 2026. Infosys said that it had to make some adjustments worth Rs 1,289 crore, including an increase in gratuity liability arising out of past service cost and increase in leave liability, which has been recorgnised in the consolidated results. India’s new labour codes, consolidated under the Code on Wages, 2019, Industrial Relations Code, 2020, Code on Social Security, 2020 and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, came into effect on November 21. The law introduces a uniform definition of wages. In practice, this stops companies from parking large chunks of pay in allowances to keep statutory payouts low. Accordingly, basic pay must comprise at least 50 percent of CTC. Several other changes like no salary delays, overtime pay rules and more were introduced as part of the new laws. Infosys results are better than expectations. all this is for information. This is not a buy/sell recommendation. thank you, Technofunda24
