BANKBARODA
Bank of Baroda has emerged as a notable PSU dividend play, combining healthy yield with strong growth in payouts over the past few years, which is broadly positive for shareholders focused on income and capital efficiency.
Bank’s annual dividend has risen sharply from ₹2.85 per share in FY22 to ₹5.50 in FY23, ₹7.60 in FY24, ₹8.35 in FY25 and ₹8.50 in FY26, implying its dividend has effectively tripled in this period and signaling a clear intent to reward shareholders more consistently. This translates into a dividend yield in the range of about 3.3–3.6%, which is meaningfully higher than the typical yield for large Indian private sector banks and compares favourably within the PSU banking space for investors seeking regular cash returns.
This rising payout has been supported by improving profitability: in the March 2026 quarter, Bank of Baroda reported revenue of roughly ₹39,988 crore and profit of about ₹5,801 crore, with profits growing in high single digits year-on-year, providing a solid earnings base for dividends. The bank’s payout ratio remains moderate, in the low-20% zone based on recent estimates, leaving sufficient room to reinvest earnings into growth, maintain capital adequacy and absorb credit costs, which reduces the risk that dividends are being increased at the expense of long-term balance sheet strength.
Shareholders receive a reasonable cash yield today plus evidence that management is willing to share a growing portion of profits, without yet stretching the bank’s financials. However, a structurally higher dividend also raises expectations; if credit costs rise or growth slows, the bank may have to moderate dividends, which could disappoint income-focused investors and introduce volatility around future announcements.#WatchOutFor#EquityResearch#TrendingSectors#FundamentalViews
