Hydrogen Boom Boosts INOX India: A Shareholder Win
India’s clean energy transition is shifting beyond solar into green hydrogen, backed by the ₹19,744 crore National Green Hydrogen Mission through FY30. This could create a ₹70,000 crore opportunity, and INOX India is among the key beneficiaries. INOX India specializes in cryogenic equipment—storage tanks, regasification systems, and distribution solutions for LNG, industrial gases, and hydrogen. The company provides end-to-end turnkey solutions across hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, oxygen, argon, CO2, LNG, and ethylene applications. The rise of green hydrogen is a major long-term growth driver. As India builds hydrogen infrastructure, demand for cryogenic hydrogen storage and transport systems is expected to rise sharply. INOX India has already secured a hydrogen tank order from a European semiconductor client, validating its technical capability and positioning it for future opportunities in refineries, fertilizers, steel, and decarbonization projects. Financially, the company remains strong. In Q2FY26, revenue rose 17% YoY to ₹358.2 crore, EBITDA grew 22% to ₹78 crore with margins of 21.8%, and PAT increased 23% to ₹60.8 crore. The order backlog stands at ₹1,485 crore with a 1.1x book-to-bill ratio, while management expects 18–20% revenue growth in FY26. The company is debt-free, with ROCE of 38% and ROE of 27.7%, indicating strong capital efficiency. Risks The stock trades at premium valuations with a P/E of 42 and high volatility. Hydrogen revenues may take time to materially impact earnings, and competition remains intense. Bottom Line For long-term shareholders, the hydrogen opportunity is largely positive. INOX India’s niche cryogenic expertise, strong balance sheet, global certifications, and diversified business pipeline position it well for India’s clean energy transition. While valuation concerns and near-term volatility remain, the company appears well placed to create long-term shareholder value as hydrogen adoption scales up.
